Wavetek/Datron 4600 Transconductance Amplifier

The 4600 from Wavetek/Datron is a bench top transconductance (current) amplifier for the 4808 and 4708 series calibrator. It extends the direct and alternating current functions up to 10 Amps. It can also be used in a stand-alone mode called “solo”.

Common Failures

• Poor Maintenance — Over time or in dusty working environments dust and debris can build up on the filter and inside the unit. This can increase internal operation temperatures affecting reliability. It can also create leakage paths that affect calibration stability and operation accuracy.

Test Instructions

These instruments can produce or measure lethal voltages at their terminals. Testing should only be performed by qualified technicians.

Testing Steps

• If the instrument is smoking or has a bad smell coming from it turn it off immediately and contact us for further instruction.
• The 4600 has no built in self test capabilities. All testing must be done manually by either connecting it to a 4708/4808 series calibrator or using it in solo mode. Refer to the operators manual.
• For any functional or calibration errors, contact us for repair.
